You might feel that your faith is in its infancy, that you are just a beginner on this spiritual journey, or that you lack depth in your understanding of faith. However, it's crucial to recognize that the spiritual position you find yourself in today isn't a product of your own making. You didn't create it, nor do you sustain it. Rather, it exists independently of your efforts—it's not centered around you. You have been placed in this spiritual state; you did not achieve it on your own.
Growth in faith isn't about actively increasing what you have, but rather about the revelation of what has already been given to you. This revelation occurs in degrees, unveiling deeper insights into who you are now—a new creation in Christ. Those who have been in Christ longer may perceive more of this reality; they have seen more of what has been gradually revealed to them.
As you step into this journey, remember that you're entering into something established by God, not something initiated by your own actions. Therefore, you should not view yourself as just starting out, possessing less than others might have. Our spiritual journey is about gradually comprehending the fullness into which God has brought us.
This understanding is not about individual superiority in spiritual matters. Someone might appear to have a deeper understanding or more spiritual riches, but this isn't the case. In God's eyes, there is no hierarchy of spiritual standing. We are all given the same divine inheritance; it's just a matter of recognizing and embracing it. God, the giver of our spiritual status, envelops us with His presence. In Him, we live, move, and have our being—our existence does not originate from us.
Often, we misconceive that spiritual stature varies among individuals, that some know more or possess more. However, this isn't true. Everything we have—our holiness, righteousness, and purity—comes from God through His Son's sacrifice, a state we could never have achieved on our own. If this is so, why do we boast as if we had a hand in our blessings? Why do we become proud or arrogant, forgetting that none of it springs from us but is a gift from the Almighty God?
Patience with yourself is essential as you navigate this divinely orchestrated journey. It is not your own path but one laid out by God. You are not acquiring new spiritual riches; you are uncovering what is already yours. In this light, there is no need for impatience or self-generated progress.
Take a moment to sit quietly at the feet of Christ. Let Him teach you about this new realm you've entered. Be gentle and kind to yourself, and open your heart to learn freely from God. It doesn’t matter how the world views your strength or weakness. What matters is your willingness to surrender earthly perspectives and to see through your spiritual eyes—the eyes of your heart—what God has freely given and prepared for you.
You are not defined by worldly standards or by your own perceptions of inferiority or greatness. You are defined by God, who has welcomed you into His presence. Let go of any misconceived self-image and embrace the vastness of what God has laid before you. What He has accomplished for you far exceeds anything you could have imagined or achieved on your own. Embrace this gift, shift your focus away from yourself, and look towards what has been divinely provided.
