In the creation of the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all within them, the marvelous works of God's hands He is clearly seen. Before our first breath of life, we were made in the very image of God—heart, soul, mind, and spirit, the internal eternal. Yet, we left the garden without the wisdom and understanding of who we truly were. Our minds were filled with the knowledge of good and evil, an internal conflict without the redeeming power of God's vision of our true identity to lift us up.
We forged a world by our own hands where none existed. We became self-sufficient, rulers of our own destiny, and definers of our own identity, yet we carried a grand void within, left behind in the garden—our true identity. Influenced by the norms of the societies we grew up in, we sought satisfaction according to the patterns of this world, missing its true essence: fulfilling and satisfying the spiritual man made in the likeness of God.
We adhered to stringent rules and regulations to achieve a semblance of what we already possessed from the beginning but never realized. Under the weight of right and wrong, we couldn't see past ourselves to feel worthy, at peace, or free from guilt. Left to ourselves, we had no power to rise above our limitations.
We sought satisfaction in our appearance, possessions, and achievements, but the transient nature of man's creations meant we could never be truly satisfied. Our worth and identity were held in the unstable balance of circumstances. We endeavored to make our lives meaningful yet found no true security.
If we are fortunate, we reach a personal breaking point in life. We catch a glimpse of the eternal and, dropping to our knees, find a God who has never left us. It is God who has known our worth from the very beginning and calls us to embrace a new life, a new beginning. He reveals who we have always been and offers to recreate us, not based on our actions, feelings, or the world's opinions.
This new life in Christ is nothing like our old life. It is not circumstantial or situational but based on eternal, immovable, and steadfast promises because God Himself and His words are eternal, immovable, and steadfast. We possess, we have, and we are all He has said we have and are. Washed clean, renewed, transformed, and reborn, we no longer view ourselves from a worldly perspective.
If you thought your breaking point broke you, it couldn't be farther from the truth. You are now free to let go of the old you, the old life, and embrace the new you, recreated to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Your identity, worth, and acceptance no longer depend on your perception of reality. Your reality has been replaced with God's reality. You see yourself as new because you are new—His marvelous creation.
