Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything every circumstance and situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your specific requests known to God. And the peace of God that peace which reassures the heart, that peace which transcends all understanding, that peace which stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus is yours. (Phi 4:6-7 AMP)
With thanksgiving, we attune our minds and hearts to the ways God has worked and continues to work in our lives. It is an attitude of acknowledgment, recognizing a God who is attuned to the specifics. Thanksgiving closes out our requests with hearts and minds full of hope—not necessarily for what we believe to be best, but with faith and hope in a God who works all things out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. In all things, we know that He cares for us, watches over us, and protects us, our hearts and minds secure in Christ Jesus. We are encouraged to release ourselves into a place of peace and expectation for what is to come, for what is best, beyond all we can ask or imagine.
